Kannawidan 2023:TAWID KULTURA

In the province of Ilocos Sur, a festival called Kannawidan is held to mark the year 1818, when Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte split apart. The province's official separation from other adjacent provinces, which was granted on February 2, 1818, is commemorated by this festival, which also features cookery demonstrations of the best Ilocano cuisine. Throughout the course of the festival, a variety of thrilling events and performances are presented.

In Tagalog, the word Kannawidan means "nakaugalian," or "tradition," in English. A festival designed to highlight the rich cultural diversity of the province in areas including the arts, agriculture, dance, and music, as well as gastronomy. Traditional games, yearly awards for excellence in service and education, various art and food competitions, carnivals, pageants, variety performances, education day celebrations, and, not to forget, booths where all the province's OTOP or One Town One Product are on exhibit and available for purchase by tourists and visitors.
